The stock Atlas RS-1's pilot does not look very prototypical. Look at http://www.railpictures.net/ and searching on Alco RS-1 you will find almost 200 pictures but none without the casting that appears above and around the coupler.

The Kadee needed .080" of a shim but double check yours with a gauge. The shim will be totally hidden by the casting so it does not have to be pretty.
