In 1946 the Richmond, Danville & Southern introduced its new streamliner, The Mariner Limited. Running between Norfolk and Memphis, with a through sleeper to Chicago via the Illinois Central, this train is one of the most modern and luxurious trains in the nation today. The motive power assigned is equally modern featuring Alco’s newest 2000hp PA and PB combination.
